Traditional Chinese Wedding

After so many years, my long lost friend and business associate Ann Catania from 10 Pennies Florist in South Philadelphia called me out of the blue to install white poly satin fabric on the gray walls at the Sheraton University City, Philadelphia.

Although, the walls in this ballroom are wonderful, accented with beautiful artwork of Philadelphia's monuments and unique locations around Philadelphia, the look is more corporate and didn't work for the planners of this wedding.

Philly Wedding Lighting not only covered the walls with white fabric but accented the walls with red uplights to intentionally maintain the Chinese tradition bringing meaning to their celebration.

Keeping with the color red for a Chinese wedding brings meaning to the celebration and helps bond us to those we love. Chinese weddings and the color red lends a certain spirit that nurtures the family connection, giving a sense of belonging and helps celebrate generations of family.

Digging a little deeper, the bride wears a red dress, called a qipao and to cover her face with a red veil on the wedding day. In Chinese culture, red symbolizes happiness, prosperity and good luck.

Philly Wedding Lighting brought the color red "though light" to this wonderful celebration plus highlighted the wonderful centerpieces that adorned the dinner tables.
